Net earnings of Yuzhny port (Ukraine) up 2.1 times to UAH 353.7 mln in Q1 09

In the first quarter of 2009, net earnings of Yuzhny port (Odessa region, Ukraine) amounted to UAH 353.734 mln (up 2.1 times), press center of Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications reports. According to the source, this is the highest financial result among Ukrainian ports. 
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port provides all-the-year-round navigation. The port’s approach channel is 2 miles long and 14.5 meters deep. The port’s outer anchorage can accommodate 24 vessels. The berthing line of the port is 2.6 kilometers long, the depth at the berth ranges within 12.5-15 meters. The port’s open storage space is 145,000 square meters. In 2008, the port handled 21.698 million tonnes of cargo.
