A new bridge across the Volga River has been constructed in Ulyanovsk, Itar-Tass reports.
The 25th bridge span of 3,800 tonnes was raised 60 meters above the water and put into place. The operation started on April 30 and finished at 4:30 p.m. Moscow time on Sunday, director of the Ulyanovsk regional transport department Andrei Tyurin told Itar-Tass.
Ulyanovsk Governor Sergei Morozov congratulated the builders. “Such projects reflect the might and potential of our country. Far from all countries are capable of designing and building bridges unaided,” the governor said.
This is one of the largest bridges in Europe and a part of the federal program of transport modernization.
