3 storage tankers to be placed by In-Transit for off-harbor transshipment of export oil in port Petersburg

By the middle of May In-Transit CJSC will complete installation of three storage tankers for off-harbor transshipment of export oil products at outer anchorage of St. Petersburg (near Kronshtadt), PortNews IAA learnt from Valeri Eliseev, Director General of stevedoring company In-Transit. According to the source, the first tanker Vladimir Tikhonov was placed on May 4, the Skip Jack tanker for vacuum gas oil will be placed on May 7 if the weather allows. The equipment will be delivered on May 8. The Sayan tanker for heavy fuel oil which carried out off-harbor transshipment in St. Petersburg during navigation-2008 will come to the port on May 8-9.

Eliseev expects that off harbor transshipment complex will be prepared for operation by May 10-11 taking into account that traffic in the port of St. Petersburg will be limited during holidays (May 9). First river tankers (with the capacity not exceeding 5,000 tonnes) transporting oil products by inland waterways of Russia (by Volga-Baltic waterway) will not be discharged before May 12. So In-Transit forecasts its May throughput at 100,000-150,000 tonnes.

In 2009, oil products will be delivered to In-Transit off-harbor transshipment complex by river fleet from Ufa, Samara and Nizhnekamsk refineries. In navigation-2008, In-Transit CJSC was the only stevedoring company to carry out off-harbor transshipment of oil products in the port of St. Petersburg. There were three storage tankers placed by the company at outer anchorage. Export of oil products (heavy fuel oil and vacuum gas oil) via In-Transit complex totaled 3.1 mln t.
