Throughput of ports within Azov-and-Don Basin up 10.7% to 3.2 mln t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, the ports of Azov-and-Don Basin handled 3.232 million tonnes of cargo (+10.7%, year-on-year), Azov-and-Don State Basin Administration of waterways and navigation states.

The Administration attributes the growth to increased export of grain and oil crop (up 3.6 times) and higher oil export (+18%), RZD-Partner states.

In the first quarter of 2009, the ports of Azov-and-Don Basin handled 1.781 million tonnes of cargo.

The length of waterways within the competence of the Azov-and-Don Basin Administration is 800 kilometers.
