Shipbuilding plant Severnaya Verf OJSC plans to deliver the first two modernized frigates Rais Hamidou project 1234E and Mourad Rais project 1159Т to Algerian Navy in early June 2009, the company informs according to Interfax.
In January 2009, two other ships, Rais Kellich and Rais Ali, belonging to Algerias Navy arrived at Russias Severnaya Verf enterprise for maintenance. The ships maintenance will take 22 months. Sixty percent of their equipment will be upgraded. The ships are to be delivered to the customer in October-November of the current year.
Severnaya Verf shipyard is located at the entry to the sea canal of the Gulf of Finland. The shipyard's facilities including covered slip with four construction sites and hoisting equipment with a floating dock enable construction and repair of different ships and vessels according to the requirement of all classification societies. Major shareholder of the company is United Industrial Corporation CJSC (72.19% of the company’s shares).
