North Western Shipping Company starts tugging barge for Kazakhstan shelf works from Nevsky shipyard

On May 8, North-Western Shipping Company (NWSC) started transportation of a barge destined for transportation of construction materials at the oil and gas shelf of Kazakhstan Republic within the framework of the intergovernmental program for the development of Kazakhstan shelf. According to NWSC PR Department, the barge capable of carrying 3,600 tonnes was built at Nevsky Shipbuilding-Shiprepair Plant (NSSP, subsidiary of NWSC) has been tugged from Shlisselburg (Leningrad region) to Astrakhan and then to port Bautino (Kazakhstan, Caspian Sea).

In navigation 2009, North-Western Shipping Company will continue delivery of water crafts, equipment and other facilities within the framework of the above program. Transportation will be carried out by 9 tugboats owned by the shipping company and 4 tugboats of Volga Shipping Company working with NWSC under bareboat charter.

North Western Shipping Company is Russia’s largest carrier specializing in transportation of loose and bulk cargo with batches from 1,000 to 5,000 tonnes. Cargo transportation is carried out by 133 motor vessels including 68 vessels owned by the company and 36 chartered from Volga Shipping. The company carries 6.6 million tonnes of cargo per year. North Western Shipping Company is a part of Independent Transport Company.
