Vyborg Shipyard attracts foreign manufacturers of drilling equipment to fulfill Gazflot contract

Vyborg Shipyard purchases equipment at foreign shipyards to build two Semi-Submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (SMODU) ordered by Gazflot LLC (Gazprom subsidiary), press center of the Russian Association of Oil and Gas Equipment Producers states.

The contract for construction of 2 Semi-Submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Units costing RUR 59 bln was signed between Vyborg Shipyard OJSC and Gazflot LLC in late 2007.  The delivery of the first Unit is scheduled for 2010, the second one – for 2011.

According to the Association, the equipment will be partly purchased from Samsung Heavy Industries (S. Korea), while drilling equipment will be purchased from National Oilwell Varco (USA).

In this connection, the Association of Oil and Gas Equipment Producers suggests that the BOD meeting of Gazprom eyes the construction of Gazflot new fleet.
