Scomi Marine Bhd’s net profit rose 6.21% to RM11.12mil for the first quarter ended March 31 compared with the previous corresponding period. Revenue, however, fell 1.36% to RM110.41mil from RM111.93mil previously due to lower tonnage carried for its coal division, the company said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.
However, the decline in revenue from the coal division was supported with better performance in its offshore support vessel business. Earnings per share rose 6.29% to 1.52 sen for the quarter from 1.43 sen previously.
On the outlook of the company, Scomi Marine said it expected the marine logistics division to continue to be its biggest revenue contributor by virtue of its long-term contracts with its customers.
