Throughput of Kotka port down 28% to 3.75 mln t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, the port of Kotka handed 3.754 million tonnes of cargo (-28%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from the port’s press center.

In the reported period, transshipment of containers fell by 35%, transshipment of cars – by 75%. Export totaled 2.69 million tonnes, import – 0.06 million tonnes, transit – 0.99 million tonnes. Transshipment of dry cargo increased by 147%, oil – by 3.8%.

The port of Kotka comprises several harbours and districts. The port is linked by linear services with Rotterdam, Hamburg, Lubeck, Antwerp, Bremen, Amsterdam and Bremerhaven. Fedeer vessels of Team Lines, Maersk-Sealand, Team-Lines, Unifider, CMA-CGM, Combsped and OOCL enter the port with the frequency of up to 3 times per week.
