HOUSTON-based heavy civil marine contractor, Orion Marine Group's subsidiary Misener Marine Construction Inc will design and build a new container terminal at an as yet undisclosed place in the Caribbean following a singing of US$16 million contract.
The project consists of constructing a new 300 metre terminal, including roll on and roll off ramps, and a separate 50 metre tug berth. The dock will be supported by a steel sheet pile tie back wall and be protected by a new fendering system, said an Orion statement.
"This award highlights the continued focus on infrastructure improvements in our market areas," said Jim Rose, Orion Marine Group's executive vice president, Atlantic and Caribbean. "We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to helping develop this terminal."
Onsite construction of the project is expected to commence during the third quarter of 2009 and last 12 months.
