Throughput of rail-ferry service Sassnitz-Baltijsk-Ust-Luga up 8 times to 171,600 t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, throughput of rail-ferry service Sassnitz-Baltijsk-Ust-Lugaincreased 8-fold, year-on-year, to 171,558 tonnes, Gudok reports.

Experts say the throughput is to continue its growth as this service considerably cuts expenses of both consignees and consignors.

As of today, rail-ferry link Sassnitz-Baltijsk-Ust-Luga is loaded for 100% so the issue of launching another ferry between Baltijsk and Ust-Luga is currently under consideration.
