Oil export via Primorsk up 5% to 25.6 mln t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, oil export via port Primorsk increased by 5% to almost 25.624 million tonnes, Administration of Big Port St. Petersburg states.

The turnover of vessels in the port totaled 595 units (298 in and 297 out).

Spetsmornefteport “Primorsk” LLC (Leningrad Region, subsidiary of Transneft company) was put into operation on December 27, 2001 as the final stage of the first phase of Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) aimed at oil transportation from Timano-Pechersk and West-Siberian oil-and-gas provinces as well as from Kazakhstan. PBS’s annual capacity as of the date of commissioning was 12 million tonnes. In 2003 PBS’s capacity was increased to 30 million tonnes of oil per year. Today its capacity is 65 million tonnes. In 2008, 75.58 million tonnes of oil cargo was exported via the port of Primorsk.
