Novorossiysk terminal NUTEP to raise capacity to 215,000 TEU per year

Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk (NUTEP, joint project of NCC and Delo Group) accepted new STS (ship-to-shore) Post Panamax crane manufactured by Liebherr. Its capacity is 50 tonnes, NCC reports.

Besides, the delivery of four Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) manufactured by Konecranes is nearing completion. New RTG capable of handling 50 tonnes are almost silent which is important for NUTEP located close to residential areas.

New equipment is to be put into operation in summer 2009 and will make it possible to raise the terminal’s capacity to 215,000 TEU per year, improve its operational efficiency and cut handling time.

National Container Company (NCC) is the leading Russian operator of container terminals. It holds leading position at the market of stevedoring services. NCC is owned in equal shares by First Quantum and FESCO transport group (FESCO’s control stock is owned by Industrial Investors Group). In 2008, NCC terminals handled over 1.7 mln TEU.
