Throughput of Izmail commercial seaport down 53.1% to 1.2 mln t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, Commercial seaport of Izmail (Odessa region, Ukraine) handled 1.215 million tonnes of cargo (-53.1%, year-on-year), the company reports according to RBC-Ukraine.

In the 4-month period, transshipment transit cargo fell by 39.6%, year-on-year, to 547,200 tonnes, export – by 60.3% to 655,8oo tonnes. 

Commercial seaport of Izmail is located at the crossing of important trade routes linking Mediterranean states with the Middle East and North Africa with Danube states of the West Europe and CIS. The depth is from 3.5 to 7.0 meters. Total length of equipped berths is 2,666 meters. The port accepts vessels of up to 150 meters in length, 30 meters in width and 7 meters in draft. The port is open for navigation round the year. In 2008, throughput of Izmail port increased by 0.1% to 6.9 million tonnes, net profit –2.5 times to UAH 8 mln.
