Investments in Ventspils port up 35% to $48 mln in 2008

In 2008, investments into Ventspils port increased 35% to LTL 24.5 mln ($47.9 mln), LETA learnt from Ventspils Development Agency according to The Baltic Course.

In 2009, investment is to make LTL 30 mln. This year the port plans to develop new dry cargo terminal, expand cargo handling area, repair pier No3 and start reconstruction of the main bridge across Venta.

In 2008, the port’s turnover totaled LTL 17.6 mln (+7%, year-on-year). The port handled 2,157 vessels including 735 tankers and 1,422 dry cargo carriers.
