Haiphong Express Service will run weekly with two 600-TEU class ships, one deployed by Hanjin and the other by Sinotrans.
The service will transport cargo from Vietnam to the United States via the Chinese and Korean ports two to three days faster than usual, Hanjin said. The deployment is expected to provide more stable vessel space during the peak season as well.
Hanjin Shipping is trying to expand its business in the region in addition to the existing direct services to Ho Chi Minh. Rivals MOL and APL last week announced new services from the recently dredged harbor at Ho Chi Minh beginning in June.
The Haiphong Express Service rotation is Busan (New Port/Gamman, Shanghai, Haiphong, Shanghai, Busan (New Port/Gamman).
