Cargo volumes at the Port of Tallinn and Riga grew in January-April 2009

Cargo volumes at the Port of Tallinn grew by 0.1% from January to April 2009, amounting to 10.46 million tonnes, writes Äripäev.ee, citing transportweekly.com.

 

Dry cargo volumes in the Port of Tallinn fell by 25.7% – by 300,000 tonnes.

 

Transportation of liquids increased by 11.45% or by 838,000 tonnes. 78.3% of the cargo volumes processed in the Port of Tallinn are liquids, reports LETA.

 

From January to April in 2008, the Port of Tallinn was visited by 110 vessels more than last year – a total of 856 ships.

 

The cargo volumes of the Port of Riga grew by 3% to 9.87 million tonnes in the beginning of the year. The Port of Klaipeda in Lithuania was used for transporting 8.5 million tonnes of cargo – 18.5% less than during the same period of time last year. The cargo flow in the Port of Ventspils in Latvia fell by 2.3% from January to April, amounting to 10.39 million tonnes.
