IMCL to start Rotterdam-Poland service

Inter Marine Container Lines (IMCL) will start a weekly service between Rotterdam and the DCT terminal in Gdansk this month. The 672 TEU 'Iwona' will leave from DCT Gdansk every Saturday and arrive at the ECS Delta terminal in Rotterdam on Tuesday/Wednesday, calling at Hamburg on the way.
Poland is a growth market for the Rotterdam container port, with the number of train services over land gradually increasing. In April, there were 16 shuttles a week, of which eight had departure on day A and arrival on day C. The most recent addition is a service offered by the Rotterdam Container Terminal and Polzug.
Volumes are also increasing over sea. In 2007, the stream quadrupled to 50,000 TEU, with similar levels maintained in the first half of 2008.
