Bavarian inland ports doubled the volume of rail cargo transported to Amsterdam and Rotterdam via Asschaffenburg

In 2008, the six co-operating Bavarian inland ports doubled the volume of rail cargo transported to Amsterdam and Rotterdam via Asschaffenburg. The direct train service running two to three times a week transported 209,000 tons – an estimated 14,000 TEU.
The group 'Bayernhafen' consists of the ports of Asschaffenburg, Bamberg, Nürnberg, Roth, Regensburg and Passau. Their total transshipment capacity increased by more than 6% from 2007 to 2008, to 28 million tons. The ports transship bulk cargo, conventional general cargo and containers between road, water and rail.
