Latvian ports cut handling of metal goods by 6.7% to 174,500 tonnes in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, turnover of metal in Latvian ports totaled 174,500 tonnes (-6.7%, year-on-year), with Liepaja accounting for almost all turnover, The Baltic Course reports.

In the reported period, the port of Liepaja handled 171,100 tonnes of metal (-2.5%, year-on-year).

The port of Ventspils handled 2,900 tonnes of metal goods, port of Riga - 0,500 tonnes.

In 2008, Latvian ports handled 533,800 tonnes of metal (-29.2%, year-on-year).
