Large-scale anti-terrorist exercise was held in Odessa port at night May 27. The exercise involved forcestructures of the city. According to the press center of Odessa Commercial Sea Port, the territory of the Dry Port and the Passenger Terminal as well as approaches to the port from Primorskaya str. were blocked from 3:00 till 9:00 by soldiers of Ukraine’s Security Service, Police and Border Service.
Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow process more than 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of oil products annually. There are eight handling complexes for dry cargoes processing, passenger complex, oil and container terminals, complex for technical and vegetable oil processing on the 133 hectares of the port territory. In 2008, the port handled 34.5 million tonnes of cargo.
