Throughput of Chinese ports up 9.7% to 8.85 bln t in Jan-Oct’13
In January-October, 2013, the ports of China increased their throughput by 9.7%, year-on-year, to 8.85 bln t, says the Ministry of Transport of the Government of the People's Republic of China. In the accounting period seaports of China handled 6.07 bln t of cargo (+10%), river ports – 2.78 bln t (+9.2%).
Container throughput gained 7.3% to 156.87 mln TEUs including 140.05 mln TEUs in seaports (+7.3%) and 16.81 mln TEUs in river ports (+6.9%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese ports climbed by 6.8% to 9.74 bln tonnes.
