RF Government authorities to submit proposals on Russia’s continental shelf in Okhotsk Sea

RF President Vladimir Putin has signed a list of instructions related to registration of Russia’s rights to the continental shelf in the northern and central parts of the Okhotsk Sea.

According to the document published at the Kremlin’s website, Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Defence, Federal Security Service are to duly submit their proposals on measures necessary for the establishment of the external border of the Russian Federation's continental shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk and proper registration of Russia's sovereign rights, in compliance with the recommendations of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.

By March 1, 2015, Russia’s Foreign Ministry is to provide the UN Secretary-General with the prepared maps and information including geodetic data on the rectified external border of the Russian Federation's continental shelf.
