Rosneft plans to commence drilling of a well at the Universitetskaya field in the Kara Sea in August 2014, IAA PortNews journalist cites Andrey Shishkin, Vice-President of Rosneft, as saying at the Adam Smith Conference “Russian Arctic Oil and Gas”.
According to him, the first result is to be achieved by the Company in November 2014.
Rosneft representative says the drilling of one exploratory well in the Arctic costs some $1 bln and requires 13 support vessels.
Rosneft is the leader of Russia’s petroleum industry, and ranks among the world’s top publicly traded oil and gas companies. The Company is primarily engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, production of petroleum products and petrochemicals, and marketing of outputs. Rosneft has been included in the Russian Government’s List of Strategic Enterprises and Organizations. The state holds 75.16% in the Company, while approximately 15% of shares are in free-float.
