Russian Railways plan large-scale modernization of BAM and Transsib in 2014

Russian Railways OJSC plans to commence large-scale modernization of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib), IAA PortNews journalist cites Vadim Morozov, Vice-President of Russian Railways, as saying at the TransRussia exhibition which has opened in Moscow today.

According to him, state support of the company’s investment programme will make RUB 125 bln this year against RUB 86 bln a year ago.

Vadim Morozov also noted that the rejection of tariff indexation has resulted in considerable decrease of the company’s revenue.

Besides, he said that the speed of trains under the project Transsib in 7 Days is to be increased to 1,500 km per day by 2015.
