RS will participate in creation of innovative composite tank container

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) in conjunction with Uralcryomash OJSC will participate in the innovative project on development and launching into manufacture of a tank container with a composite barrel. This has been announced by RS at the 19^th International Exhibition on Transport and Logistics, TransRussia 2014, being held in Moscow on April 22-25.

The project is being implemented under the state programme “Development of composite material production”. Basing on the latest scientific and technical achievements, they plan to develop and create a barrel made of polymer composite and resistant to aggressive agents and chemicals which are transported in containers. It will meet the international standards applicable to intermodal transportation.

The new tank containers are supposed to feature decreased barrel weight (less 20% than similar steel barrels) and sustaining characteristics for at least 15 years depending on the type of cargo.
