MSC announces switch of ports activities in the State of Oman

Following the decision taken by the Omani Government to convert Port Sultan Qaboos (Muscat Port) as a tourism port by January 2015 all commercial, including containerized, activities will be transferred by 31st August 2014 from Port Sultan Qaboos to Sohar Industrial Port, Mediterranean Shipping Company said in its press release.

Port Sultan Qaboos (Muscat):
Import to Muscat: 05.31.14 - Last date for Issue of B/L with destination Muscat
Export from Muscat: 05.31.14 - Last date for issue of B/L with origin Muscat
Return of empty containers: 05.31.14 - Last date to receive empties in Muscat

Currently, MSC is offering this port for import and export cargoes. Sohar will continue to be the port of loading / discharge after the cut-off dates mentioned above.
