In January-March 2014, Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 248,000 t of cargo (-17%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.
According to the statement, the decrease should be attributed mainly to the weather conditions during winter navigation.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo fell by 24% to 118,000 t including 25,000 t of grain (up 2.3 times) and 88,000 t of coal (-34%). Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo plunged by 41% to 48,000 t.
The increase was demonstrated in the sector of general cargo (up 1.7 times to 82,000 t). In particular, transshipment of metal and tubular goods increased almost 2-fold to 59,000 t.
The company’s container throughput hit 1,300 TEUs.
In January-March, Taganrog Commercial Seaport handled 17,600 t of import cargo and 228,000 t of export cargo.
In the reported period the company handled 4,064 railcars and 61 vessels.
Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is a key stevedoring company of the Taganrog port. In 2013, it handled 1.4 mln t of cargo. The major shareholder of Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is UCL Port, stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding which controls a number of stevedoring assets in the South and North West of Russia.
