Towing of LSD "Sevastopol" to Saint-Nazaire to begin on June 16, 2014

Towage of aft section of Mistral-class LSD “Sevastopol” to France based Saint-Nazaire Shipyard is scheduled for June 16, 2014. Towing operation is expected to last about 3 weeks, Alexei Kadilov, General Director of Baltiysky Shipyard said, IAA PortNews correspondent reports.

Kadilov noted that upon arrival at Saint-Nazaire the STX France shipyard will complete assembly of the hull's stern and bow sections and the ship. STX France Operations Director Jean-Yves Jaouen assured that the parts assembly will be made in July 2014, with the shipbuilding milestone completion in nearly 3 weeks.

The LSD Sevastopol is expected to enter service with the Russian Navy in fall 2015.
