Russian Government will set aside RUB 7.085 billion in 2014 to finance transport infrastructure service in Crimean Federal District, the official Russian government website said. The corresponding decree has been signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The order, granting appropriation in the 2014 federal budget subsidies and intergovernmental transfers to finance transport system of Crimean Federal District, was prepared by the Transport Ministry of Russia.
Funds will be used for the development of passenger traffic to / from the territory of the Crimea, for the construction and major overhaul of airport facilities in Simferopol, for the reconstruction of marine rail / car ferry service in the seaport of Kerch, and for facilitation of air passenger traffic to / from Simferopol.
The money will also be spent to support highway transportation and the state-owned "Crimean Railroad."
The program will be financed through the budget allocations of Russian Ministry of Finance intended for financial support of additional measures encouraging the economy, small and medium enterprises, the labor market, municipalities and social support.
The government said on its website that the investment in improvement of transport service in Crimean Federal District is very important in the holiday season with expected increase in passenger traffic.
The order was reviewed and approved at the meeting of Russian Government on 28 April 2014.
