TransContainer’s four-month box traffic rises 7.2% to 146,700 TEUs

The volume of containers hauled by rail operator JSC TransContainer in January-April 2014 on Far East Railways totaled 146,700 TEUs, a 7.2-percent gain from the same period last year, RZD said.

On the FER stations 1,619,000 tonnes of cargo were loaded into increased capacity containers (+6.4% compared to 2013).

Average daily loading in January-April reached 13,400 tonnes (+6.4%). Average weight of a container was 17.5 tonnes, similar to the same period last year.

In April 2014, TransContainer's container volume increased by 6% on last year's figure and reached 37,000 TEUs, or 433,000 tonnes of cargo.
