Rolls-Royce appoints Mikael Makinen as President of Marine business

Rolls-Royce has announced that it has appointed Mikael Makinen as President of its Marine business. Mikael joins from McGregor, where he was President, and before that he held a number of senior positions at Cargotec and Wärtsilä, the Company said in a press release.

Lawrie Haynes, Rolls-Royce, President - Marine & Industrial Power Systems, said: "Mikael joins us at an exciting time and I’m delighted he will be leading our Marine business into the future. He brings with him an impressive set of credentials and extensive experience of our industry, both as a customer and a supplier of the maritime technology. "

The Marine business has some fantastic technology, an impressive customer base and some very capable people. I’m looking forward to leading this business and delivering the products, innovation and support that our customers need."

Mikael Makinen will lead a business of more than 6,000 people located in 35 countries. Together, they serve more than 4,000 customers in the Offshore, Merchant and Naval sectors, with equipment installed on around 25,000 vessels.

Rolls-Royce is a world leader in marine solutions, providing products, service and expertise to more than 30,000 vessels in the offshore, merchant, naval surface and submarine markets. It designs ships and its product range includes propulsion systems featuring diesel engines and gas turbines, propellers, thrusters and water jets. Rolls-Royce also provides manoeuvring and stabilising systems and deck machinery. The company employs over 39,000 skilled people, including 11,000 engineers, in offices, manufacturing and service facilities in over 50 countries.
