Over 70 surveyors have already been trained on RS classification of LNG carriers, IAA PortNews journalist cites Georgiy Bedrik, Head of RS Business Development Department, as saying at the International Specialized Offshore Exhibition and Conference (Offshore Marintec Russia) in Saint-Petersburg.
According to him, RS has earlier trained inspectors for LNG carriers.
RS is currently surveying the construction of a series of four LNG carries being built by STX, two of them have already been completed. Besides, RS is also an independent technical expert in the tender for construction of LNG carriers under Yamal LNG project. Initially it is planned to build 10 ships for this project, and the total number of vessels in the series should amount to 15 units. The series will be constructed to the dual RS/BV class, RS acting as the lead society.
