RS, GTT joint research used for construction of vessels under Yamal LNG project

The findings of the research conducted by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping in conjunction with GTT (France) have been used in technologies applied for construction of the series of LNG carriers under Yamal LNG project, IAA PortNews journalist cites Georgiy Bedrik, Head of RS Business Development Department, as saying at the International Specialized Offshore Exhibition and Conference (Offshore Marintec Russia) in Saint-Petersburg.

According to him, an approval in principle has been given to the method developed by GTT for calculation of the dynamic interaction between an LNG carrier and an iceberg, as well as for application of membrane cargo containment system on LNG carriers with ice category Arc7, which are to be operated in freezing seas of Russian Arctic and the Northern Sea Route’s water area.
