Throughput of Tuapse Commercial Seaport up 9% to 9.7 mln t in Jan-Sep’14

In January-September 2014, Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 9.7 mln t of cargo (+9%, year-on-year), press center of the stevedoring company says.

Transshipment of dry cargo increased by 19% to 4.6 mln t including 1.1 mln t of grain (up 3-fold), mainly due to advantageous grain market  situation. 

Besides, import of raw sugar increased by 93% to 188,500 t, import of vegetables – by 13% to 64,300 t.

Export of ferrous metal declined by 3% to 1.2 mln t. Coal transshipment remained flat at 2 mln t.

Transshipment of oil cargo climbed by 4% to 5.1 mln t.
 
In general, transshipment of export cargo accounting for 97% of the company’s cargo flow totaled 9.4 mln t (+8%), import – 0.3 mln t (+66%). 

In January-September 2014, Tuapse Commercial Seaport handled 630 cargo vessels (268 dry cargo carriers and 362 liquid bulk carriers) and 68,836 railcars.

Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC is the main operator at the port of Tuapse, one of Russia’s largest ports. It is a part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of international transport group UCL Holding. UCL Port also consolidates OJSC Sea Port St. Petersburg, CJSC Container Terminal Saint Petersburg, Universal Handling Terminal LLC based in North-West of Russia, and Taganrog port in the South. In 2013, the port handled 12.3 mln t of cargo.
