In January-December 2014, seaport Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 47,431,700 t of cargo (+9.2%, year-on-year) which is a record high result in the port’s history, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 36,860,000 t (+14.6%, year-on-year), import – 4,096,700 t (+18.4%). Grain transshipment surged by 48% to 9,139,800, oils – by 63.1% to 1,005,600 t, oil products – 2.3 times to 601.1 mln t, ore – by 9.1% to 24,375,300 t. The port’s container throughput climbed by 17.5% to 54,380 TEUs.
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
