New agreement signed by the Maritime Administration of Greece and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) on the delegation of authority for the statutory surveys and certifications of ships and shipping companies of Greece. The agreement replaces that signed in 2009, press center of RS says.
The text of the agreement has been amended and enlarged in compliance with the provisions of the national legislation of Greece. The expansion of RS authorities covers, in particular, special-purpose vessels, passenger coasters and fishing ships in accordance with Directive 97/70/ЕС and also relates to issuance of certain documents regulated by the flag state laws.
Before December 31, 2014, Maritime Administrations concluded agreements with RS based on IMO Resolutions A.739(18) ‘Guidelines for the Authorisation of Organisations Acting on Behalf of the Administration’ and A.789(19) ‘Specifications on the Survey and Certification Functions of Recognised Organisations Acting on Behalf of the Administration’. From January 1, 2015 signing of such agreements is regulated by t he Code for recognized organizations (RO Code) adopted by the IMO by means of resolution MSC.349(92).
The Code replaces IMO Resolutions А.739(18) and А.789(19). Russian Register is a recognized organization by maritime authorities in 70 foreign countries including 16 EU members.
