Vroon’s bulk carrier Scandinavian Express leaves drydock

At the end of last week Vroon’s bulk carrier, Scandinavian Express, left drydock at the Zhoushan Changhong Shipyard in China, where she is currently undergoing her first special-survey repair period. The vessel’s hull-coating work has been completed and the entire docking period is scheduled for completion later this week, the company said in its press release.

As part of the work scope, the vessel has been fitted with a Propeller Boss Cap Fin (PBCF) to improve propeller efficiency. Scandinavian Express is the last of Vroon’s four Post-Panamax bulk carriers to be equipped with a PBCF, which can result in a saving of up to 5.8% in fuel consumption.

Installation and commissioning of additional fuel-saving equipment, such as flow meters, torque meters and frequency controllers will be completed in the coming weeks.
