This week, ECT Delta Terminal unloaded and loaded 18,500 TEU ( 11,051 containers) of the Thalassa Hellas of Evergreen Line. Never before so many containers were handled in Europe during one call. The previous record was realised on the Thalassa Pistis, October last year, when 10,557 containers were handled, Port of Rotterdam said in its press release.
The Thalassa Hellas is 368 meters long, 51 meters wide and has a capacity of 13,806 TEU. During her visit to ECT, 5,215 containers were discharged and 5,836 containers were loaded. The ECT Delta Terminal was the first and only port of call for the Thalassa Hellas in the Le Havre-Hamburg range.
ECT invested heavily in equipment and systems to be able to handle fast and efficiently Ultra Large Container Ships as the Thalassa Hellas and even bigger vessels. With the ongoing increase in scale in container shipping these investments continue unabated.
