In 2015, seaports of Georgia (Poti and Batumi) will show the second largest aggregate result after Novorossiysk in terms of container throughput in the Black Sea area, IAA PortNews journalist cites Andrei Narayevsky, Development Director and BoD member of RUSCON.ltd, as saying today at YugTrans Conference in Gelendzhik.
“It is because of economic problems and stagnation of the Ukrainian market,” he said.
According to Andrei Narayevsky, port Novorossiysk handled 720,173 TEUs in 2014 against 722,417 TEUs in 2013. The ports of Ukraine (Odessa, Ilyichevsk and Yuzhny) handled 666,802 TEUs against 779,071 TEUs. The ports of Georgia – 446,972 TEUs against 403,447.
“Today, the fastest growth is seen in Georgia which features the beginning of containerization process,” Narayevsky added.
