Kamchatka region looks to create cruise and cargo terminals at Port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
In line with the project of Priority Development Area (PDA) "Kamchatka" it is planned to develop cruise shipping facilities and a cargo terminal in Kamchatka Krai, Russia based Port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the regional government's press office said.
Development of the cruise shipping sector includes approvals / permits for the construction of port facilities, land allocation. It is planned to overhaul and build a quay wall of total length of at least 1200 meters.
The PDA "Kamchatka" project is the territory encompassing of seven sites. There two main directions of the territory development: tourist-recreational facilities and port / industrial sector. As of now, there are 13 investors PDA residents who would be willing to participate: 3 residents - in agri-industrial block, 2 resident - port / industrial block, 6 residents - in tourist / recreational block and 2 – air / transport block. The confirmed private investment in the project reached RUB 28.1 billion. This will help create 1900 new jobs. The federal / regional budgets will have to invest in the PDA infrastructure at least RUB 8.4 billion.
Deputy Prime Minister, Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev has met with local authorities and potential investors to discuss some issues and challenges of the PDA project in the Kamchatka Krai. Besides, a government subcommittee meeting will be held in Vladivostok, April 28 to consider the implementation of investment projects in the Far East and the Baikal region. After careful consideration of all issues the project is to be submitted for approval to the Russian Government.
