Gibraltar flagged ship runs aground at Big Port St. Petersburg
Gibraltar-flagged, Briese Schiffahr owned M/V Accum with a pilot onboard on Tuesday, April 28 ran aground while exiting Big Port St. Petersburg, the State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre reported.
The Transport Ministry's rescue centre said the incident occurred due to onboard power failure and the ship hit the edge of an enclosed part of the access / exit sea channel near Zolotiye Vorota.
There were no damages, injuries or oil spill reported.
Tugs "Griphon-3" and "Griphon-7" of a St. Petersburg based towing fleet operator Griphon Ltd. refloated the stranded vessel and towed her off to Pier No 63 for hull inspection. A multipurpose salvage / oil boom workboat Alphard (of Rosmorrechflot's Maritime Salvage Service) also responded to the scene.
