Moscow State Academy of Water Transport (MSAWT) has joined the EDINNA association (Education in Inland Navigation), Oleg Solyakov, Pro-rector for Research at the Acedemy, told IAA PortNews.
At the Ninth General Assembly of EDINNA in Vienna (Austria) held on April 21-21, 2015, Oleg Solyakov delivered a presentation on the Academy, its structure and educational & research activities.
According to the Pro-rector, the decision on the Academy’s membership was taken through a general voting of the Association Members.
“Having joined the Association we obtain an opportunity of further cooperation with institutions training personnel for inland water transport,” Oleg Solyakov said.
According to him, “EDINNA membership will not only let jointly develop the requirements for training of shipboard personnel for inland water transport but will also provide for the exchange of students (cadets) and teaching personnel”.
Such an exchange between schools, academies, institutions of higher education in the EU will contribute to further recognition of river diplomas in other countries.
Moscow State Academy of Water Transport trains shipboard personnel for marine and river transport, management for Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency) and leading organizations of the industry, as well as specialists for shore authorities of the Moscow-Oka Basin. The Academy’s scientific resources let it carry out the research in the sphere of IT, logistics, economics and law in transport, shipbuilding, port development and water transport operation.
