Costa Pacifica opens cruise season of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg (photo)

On May, 2nd the summer navigation started at Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade", the port says in its press release. The first call this year was made by Costa Pacifica, Carnival Corporation that brings 3 000 passengers on board. This is the first of seven Costa Pacifica calls to St. Petersburg scheduled for 2015. In total, since 2011 the vessel has made 21 calls to Marine Façade.

The cruise ship started the trip on April 28th in Port of Kiel and then visited Stockholm and Helsinki. After departure from St. Petersburg on May 3rd she will also attend Tallinn, Klaipeda and Gdyna and complete the cruise at the starting point – Port of Kiel – on May 9th.

Costa Pacifica is one of the largest company's vessels with 17 decks, 290 meters length and capacity of carrying 3000 passengers on board. Godmother of the vessel is the famous Israeli singer Noa.

The next calls at Passenger port of Saint Petersburg are expected on May 8th when 3 new ships will make their maiden calls to the Port. The final vessel call of the season is on October 19th 2015, when Marco Polo cruise ship of Global Cruises visits Passenger port of Saint Petersburg.

In 2015 Marine Façade expects 102 calls of Carnival Corporation cruise ships, 30 calls from Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises and 17 calls of MSC Cruises vessels. During the season at least 232 cruise vessel calls are expected, and the total passenger traffic of 497 000 people will exceed the 2014 figure by 3%.

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
