Viking Star on her maiden call at Passenger port of Saint Petersburg

Passenger port of Saint Petersburg welcomes four cruise ships today including Viking Star, which has made her maiden call to the Port, AIDAdiva, AIDAmar and Costa Luminosa. The four vessels have brought over 10,000 people to St. Petersburg, including crew members.

Viking Star belongs to the Viking Ocean Cruises company, which is a division of Viking Cruises – one of the largest river cruise operators. Viking Cruises’ fleet consists of over 50 river vessels that sail in Egypt, Europe, Russia and the countries of South-East Asia.

Viking Star is the first ocean cruise ship of Viking Ocean Cruises, it was launched on April 11, 2015. In 2017 Viking Ocean Cruises is planning complete the construction of the sister ships Viking Sea and Viking Sky.

Currently on a 50-day cruise, Viking Star is visiting 17 countries and 37 cities, which includes spending two days in St. Petersburg. The ship’s length is 228 meters, cruising speed – 20 knots, passenger capacity – 930 berths, and the ship has 14 decks. In 2015 Passenger port of Saint Petersburg is expecting six calls of Viking Star.

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
