Marine Façade welcomes MSC Sinfonia on her maiden call to Saint-Petersburg (photo)

For the third day in a row Passenger port of Saint Petersburg receives cruise ships that come here for the first time. Today, on May 28, it is the maiden call of MSC Sinfonia that brings over twenty five hundred people aboard including the crew, says press center of Marine Façade.

MSC Sinfonia belongs to an Italian cruise company MSC Cruises. Before being acquired by MSC Cruises in 2004 the ship was sailing under the name European Stars and belonged to Festival Cruises – a Greek cruise line.

Interestingly, in January 2015 MSC Sinfonia was reconstructed – a whole section was built into the vessel hull, which has added 193 passenger cabins. Length of the reconstructed ship is 274 meters, she fits 2,200 passengers and has a cruising speed of 21 knots

In total 8 calls of MSC Sinfonia are planned for the 2015 cruise season.

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
