Global competition policies to be reviewed at major five-yearly gathering in Geneva
The Seventh UN Review Conference, marking the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices (also referred to as the United Nations Set), takes place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 6–10 July 2015, UNCTAD said in its press release.
The UNCTAD-hosted conference provides an occasion for heads of competition authorities and senior officials from developed and developing countries to explore cooperation in tackling anti-competitive practices and review experiences gained in applying the UN Set.
High-level participants will include representatives from Mexico, Spain and Austria, as well as from the University of New York and CUTS International (Consumer Unity & Trust Society) among others.
UNCTAD's work on competition and consumer protection, which pursues a development dimension, dates from the adoption of the UN Set by the General Assembly in December 1980.
