Kalmar to run a complete refurbishment of two ship-to-shore cranes for ACCHCO in Egypt
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order to retrofit both electrically and mechanically two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes for Alexandria Container & Cargo Handling Co. (ACCHCO) at the Port of Alexandria, Egypt. The order was signed into Cargotec's 2015 second quarter order intake, and the project is planned to be completed by the end of 2015. The value of the order is approximately EUR 3.5 million, the company said in its press release.
The cranes, originally supplied by Cerretti Tanfany, have been operational since 1995. The cranes will be fully refurbished both electrically and mechanically, replacing the most critical components in order to extend the lifetime of the cranes. The works include the replacement of the current spreaders by Bromma spreaders that will be supplied as part of the retrofit works.
The project is carried out by the Kalmar Crane Upgrades specialists in South EMEA. Kalmar has five regional Crane Upgrades competence centres around the globe.
Established in 1984, Alexandria Container & Cargo Handling Company is the first specialised container handling terminal in Egypt. The company operates two major terminals, Alexandria Container Terminal at the Port of Alexandria, and ElDekheila Terminal at the Port of Dekheila.
