(China) plans to invest over RUB 3 bln into Nakhodka Sea Fishing Port, IAA PortNews journalist cites Aleksey Golovko, Director General of the Far Eastern Transport Group, as saying during the presentation of the memorandum on cooperation at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok.
According to Aleksey Golovko, memorandum on investment cooperation under the project “Reconstruction and modernization of Nakhodka fishing port” was signed between Far Eastern Transport Group and Port Dalian Corporation on April 28, 2015.
Under the project, the Chinese side will invest into equipment for cold storage and processing of fish products. The project’s total value – RUB 3.9 bln including RUB 700 mln already borrowed by the port. According to the port management, the project implementation will let increase annual production volumes to 3 mln t against 830 t processed in 2014 (Aleksey Golovko attributes the decrease to the beginning of reconstruction works).
According to Dalian Port Corporation President Hui Kai, a joint venture is to be established under the project. Apart from the port modernization it will develop logistic links between Nakhodka and Dalian ports including the possibilities of the Transsib being used by the Corporation for exports to Germany. Dalian Port Corporation annually handles 340 mln t of cargo.
Ivan Tonkhikh, Adviser to the Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East, says the project have an advantage of being registered in Nakhodka within the limits of the Free Port of Vladivostok.
Nakhodka Sea Fishing Port OJSC (Far Eastern Transport Group) is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the Far East of Russia. It forms and dispatches container trains with use of FETG rolling stock, handles different vessels including Rо-Rо ships, services and stores refrigerated containers.
There is a permanent customs control zone within the company’s territory allowing for providing services on transshipment and storing of different export/import cargoes.
