On 3 September in the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum temporary acting Governor of the Sakhalin Region Oleg Kozhemyako and FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko have signed agreements with LLC “BM-Sakhalin” and LLC “Gornyak-2” aimed at cooperation of the parties while preparation of declarations on intentions to invest in Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsky and Nevelsk seaports development, correspondently. According to Rosmorport's press center, the signing took place on board of Nadezhda sailing ship and was attended by assistant of the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin and chairman of the State Duma committee for safety and corruption control Irina Yarova.
FSUE “Rosmorport” and the government of the Sakhalin Region also concluded agreement on cooperation while preproject offers preparation and search of investors in order to construct passenger terminal in Korsakov Seaport. Construction of the passenger terminal is required for provision of services for both vessels performing passenger conveyance in coastwise navigation, and big cruise liners. The passenger terminal infrastructure that will appear after the investment project realization is supposed to enable the marine terminal to accept cruise liners type Oasis of the Seas. It is expected that once the proper infrastructure is constructed and tourist routes on Sakhalin island are developed, the passenger turnover will reach 84, 000 people a year, including 28, 000 of foreign tourists.
